The billboard of the 35th edition of Cartoon Club, the animation cinema, comics and games festival scheduled in Rimini from July 13th to the 21st, is signed by Antonio Lapone.
The internationally tributed illustrator’s flawless style, brings to life a haute couture Wonder Woman for Cartoon Club 2019.
His typical and peculiar hand, drawing inspiration from the Ligneclaire, with clear and precise lines, has outlined an incredibly glamorous Wonder Woman. The popular superheroine becomes a fashion model wearing her unique corset matched with trousers, stiletto shoes, hat and scarf, languidly leaned on a “R” shake armchair, recalling Rimini.
The artistic roots of Antonio Lapone, who was born in Turin in 1970 and Belgian by adoption, get their sap from the advertising creations, from the affiches of cartoonists and from fashion sketches. As a matter of fact, he studied the graphic creations of Marcello Dudovich, one of the fathers of the modern italian pubblicità posters, creator of the famous “Red dolphin”, drawn for the trade show and for the art expo displayed in Rimini during the 1922 Summer season.
Graphic designer way before becoming a cartoonist, Antonio Lapone’s work ranges from illustrations on paper to paintings and comics. Multitasking artist, he creates images, silk-screen printings, sketch albums and parallel portfolio. Several pages of magazines from the ‘50s and ‘60s, a universe of elegance and graphic creations, are to him an endless source of inspiration. Whatever the style, the keywords to his world are research for creation and elegance of the trait.
